Blackwork with many colors

Blackwork Embroidery was originally stitched using black silk thread (therefore its name)
on white or off-white fabrics, and was also stitched using red thread on natural linen.
Over time, other colors of threads and fabrics have been added to the technique.
Now threads of any color or colors are used. sometimes for shading
and sometimes for decorative effect.
